What Is the LensCrafters AccuFit Class Action?

A $39 million class action settlement has been reached with LensCrafters over allegations related to their AccuFit technology. If you qualify, you could receive up to $50 for each pair of prescription eyeglasses fitted using this technology. AccuFit was designed to digitally align prescription lenses and frames.

The lawsuit claims that LensCrafters falsely advertised AccuFit as highly precise, stating it could measure down to a “tenth of a millimeter.” The plaintiffs argued that LensCrafters did not have the capability to produce glasses with such precision, leading consumers to pay more than they would have if the claims were accurate. Although LensCrafters and its parent company, Luxottica, which operates around 1,100 LensCrafters locations globally, deny these allegations, they have agreed to settle for $39 million.

The lawsuit contends that consumers who paid for AccuFit glasses were misled about their precision, and claims that LensCrafters violated several laws, including:

  • California Consumers Legal Remedies Act
  • Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act
  • New York General Business Law
  • Florida State Law
