What is the Procter & Gamble Recall About?
Procter & Gamble, renowned for its detergent brands such as Tide and Gain, has issued a voluntary recall for several product lines, including Tide Pods, Gain Pods, Ariel Pods, and Ace Laundry Pods. This recall affects approximately 8.2 million bags of Tide Pods due to a manufacturing defect that may cause the packaging to fail near the zipper track.
This defect poses a risk of severe injury, particularly to children and vulnerable individuals, including the elderly or those with cognitive impairments. The concentrated detergent could potentially cause serious health issues such as vomiting, wheezing, respiratory distress, or even death, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
How Do I Qualify and How Much Can I Get Paid?
To be eligible for a refund or replacement, you must have purchased any of the affected detergent pods from the list below. The products were sold in flexible film bags and were manufactured between September 2023 and February 2024. The recall covers about 8.2 million units in the U.S. and 56,741 units in Canada. The recalled products include:

If you purchased these products from retailers such as Big Lots, CVS, Family Dollar, Home Depot, Sam’s Club, Target, Walmart, or online at Amazon.com between September 2023 and now, you may be eligible for a reimbursement or refund. Prices ranged from $5 (for one 12-count bag) to $30 (for a box of four 39-count bags).
Procter & Gamble will offer either a replacement product, a prepaid debit card for the purchase price, or a replacement bag with a secure latch.
How Do I File a Claim?
To file a claim, visit the official Procter & Gamble recall website. You will likely need to provide proof of purchase, such as a photo or scan of the product barcode and lot code (found on the side or bottom of the bag), to verify that your product is part of the recall.
