What Is This Settlement About?
A class action settlement has been reached with Sugarmill Distilling, a manufacturer of liquors and hand sanitizer. The lawsuit claims that Sugarmill misled consumers by labeling its HEX hand sanitizer as 99% effective against all germs, when it was not, thus violating consumer protection laws.
How Do I Qualify?
You qualify as a class member if you purchased Sugarmill’s HEX hand sanitizer (not for resale) in Illinois or Missouri between May 15, 2017, and April 1, 2022. Any size purchase, whether ounces or gallons, is eligible.
How Much Can I Get?
Payments for valid claims will be as follows:
- $3.00 for each 12.6 fluid ounce container purchased
- $20.00 for each one-gallon container purchased
- $70.00 for each five-gallon container purchased
Do I Need Proof of Purchase?
If you purchased two or fewer 12.6 fluid ounce containers, no proof of purchase is required.
How Do I File a Claim?
You needed to complete your Claim Form online by July 12, 2022. A final hearing was held on July 19, 2022, in Monroe County, Illinois.
