What is the Fortnite Class Action Lawsuit About?

Epic Games, the creator of Fortnite, has agreed to a $245 million refund fund in collaboration with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The settlement stems from allegations that Fortnite charged players for unauthorized purchases. Players who have filed a claim form have already reported receiving payments between $100 and $250 via PayPal. However, you may still be eligible for a refund if you submit a claim form before the extended deadline of January 10, 2025.

How Do I Qualify For A Payout?

You may qualify for a refund from Fortnite if any of the following apply:

  • If you or your child were charged for Fortnite items using in-game currency without intending to purchase them between January 2017 and September 2022.
  • If your child made Fortnite purchases without your permission using your credit card between January 2017 and November 2018.
  • If your Fortnite or Epic account was locked between January 2017 and September 2022 after you filed a complaint with your credit card company regarding incorrect charges.

Note: You must be at least 18 years old to file a claim. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must submit the claim form on your behalf.

What Can I Get in the Fortnite Class Action Settlement?

To apply for a refund, you’ll need either your claim number or your Epic account ID. If you didn’t receive an email from Epic or the FTC with your claim number, you can locate your Epic ID. Refunds will be sent via check or PayPal.

The amount of your refund will depend on the total number of valid and timely claims submitted. The payout may be lower than the initial estimate if more claims are filed than expected. The payment amount is contingent on the approval of the settlement.

Please be aware that your claim form will be rejected if it contains fraudulent information. By submitting your information and your sworn statement of its accuracy, you are agreeing to do so under penalty of perjury. Submitting false information not only jeopardizes your claim but also affects others who are genuinely eligible for the settlement.
