Colony Ridge $1.99M Unwanted Text Message Settlement

Consumers who received multiple text messages from Colony Ridge on their personal cell phone may qualify to claim up to $2,000 from a class action settlement.

Individuals who received at least two text messages advertising Terrenos Santa Fe from Colony Ridge Development between June 27, 2020, and May 7, 2025, may be eligible to receive between $1,000 and $2,000.

Colony Ridge Development agreed to pay $1,994,123 to resolve a lawsuit alleging it sent nonemergency marketing text messages without first obtaining written consent, in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Approximately 71,616 consumers nationwide may be affected.

Who Is Eligible for a Payout?

Class members must meet all the following criteria:

  • They received more than one text message within a 12-month period from Colony Ridge Development or its business partners promoting Terrenos Santa Fe or related services.
  • Their cell phone number was registered on the National Do Not Call Registry for at least 30 days before receiving at least two of the messages.
  • They received the text messages between June 27, 2020, and May 7, 2025.
  • Their phone number appears on the list of numbers identified as potentially affected.

How Much Can Class Members Receive?

Each approved claimant will receive a pro rata cash payment, with an estimated payout between $1,000 and $2,000. The final amount depends on the number of valid claims submitted.

When Will Payments Be Sent?

Why Is There a Settlement?

The lawsuit alleged Colony Ridge sent marketing text messages without prior express written consent, violating the TCPA. Colony Ridge denies wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the costs and uncertainties of continued litigation.
