HealthComp LLC has agreed to pay $2.3 million to settle a class action lawsuit that claimed it recorded phone calls without proper consent, violating California’s Invasion of Privacy Act. Individuals who meet the eligibility criteria may qualify for a cash payment.
Who Is Eligible?
You may be eligible to file a claim if you meet all of the following conditions:
- You made a phone call from a cellular phone to one of HealthComp’s toll-free numbers:
- 1-800-442-7247
- 1-855-727-5267
- The call took place between January 24, 2022, and January 24, 2023.
- You were physically located in California at the time of the call.
- The call was recorded by HealthComp.
Even if you did not receive a settlement notice, you may still qualify if you meet all the criteria. Only one claim per person is allowed, regardless of the number of qualifying calls made.
What Is the Payment Amount?
Each approved claimant will receive a one-time pro rata payment from the net settlement fund. The total fund is $2.3 million, and the final individual payment amount depends on how many valid claims are submitted.
Deductions from the settlement fund include:
- Attorneys’ fees (up to $766,666.67)
- Attorneys’ expenses (up to $20,000)
- Settlement administration (up to $50,000)
- Service award to the class representative (up to $10,000)
The remaining funds will be distributed equally among all approved claimants.
If any funds remain after 180 days (e.g., due to uncashed checks), they will be donated as follows:
- 50% to the Alliance for Children’s Rights
- 50% to the UCLA School of Law – Public Interest Law & Policy Program
How to Submit a Claim
To file a claim, class members must submit a completed claim form by the deadline of September 5, 2025.
Claims can be submitted in either of the following ways:
- Online using the unique ID and PIN from your settlement notice.
- By mail or email using a downloadable claim form.

From the total $2.3 million settlement fund:

When Will Payments Be Sent?

Why Was This Lawsuit Filed?
The lawsuit alleged that HealthComp violated California law by recording calls to its toll-free numbers without first obtaining the consent of all participants. HealthComp denies wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the cost and risk of continued litigation.
