Overview
Patients of Henry Ford Health who had a MyChart account between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2023, may be eligible to receive a $15 cash payment from a class action settlement. The lawsuit claimed that Henry Ford Health shared patients’ personal and/or protected health information with third-party technologies without consent.
Henry Ford Health denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the cost and uncertainty of litigation.
Who Is Eligible?
To qualify for the settlement:
- You must have been a patient of Henry Ford Health in the United States between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2023.
- You must have had a MyChart patient portal account during that period.

How to File a Claim
To receive the $15 payment, class members must:
- Submit a claim form online or
- Download and mail a PDF claim form to the settlement administrator by August 25, 2025.

Payout Options
Class members filing for the $15 payment can choose one of the following methods:
- Mailed paper check
- Venmo
- PayPal
- Zelle
Settlement Fund Details
The settlement will cover:
- Administration costs: Amount to be determined
- Attorneys’ fees and expenses: Up to $1,900,000
- Service award to class representative: $1,500
- Payments to class members: $15 for each valid claim
- Privacy Shield Pro benefit: Cost to be determined
Important Deadlines
- Opt-out deadline: August 11, 2025
- Claim filing deadline: August 25, 2025
- Final approval hearing: October 7, 2025
When Will Payments Be Issued?
- Cash payments are expected to be distributed approximately 75 days after the court grants final approval and any appeals are resolved.
- Privacy Shield Pro enrollment codes will be emailed to all class members about 60 days after final approval.
Reason for the Lawsuit
The lawsuit alleged that Henry Ford Health shared patients’ personally identifiable information (PII) and/or protected health information (PHI) with third-party tracking technologies without proper authorization. This disclosure allegedly violated privacy laws and regulations. Henry Ford Health denies these claims but agreed to settle the matter to resolve the dispute efficiently.
