Identity Intelligence Group LLC, the company behind IdentityIQ, has agreed to an $8.77 million settlement to resolve claims that it violated California law by enrolling consumers in automatically renewing subscriptions without clearly disclosing the terms.
Consumers who were charged for an automatic renewal of IdentityIQ services between March 22, 2019, and August 20, 2023, may be eligible for a cash payment.

Eligible payments will be distributed approximately 121 days after final court approval of the settlement, assuming there are no appeals.
The class action lawsuit alleged that IdentityIQ violated California’s Automatic Renewal Law and Unfair Competition Law by failing to clearly and conspicuously present renewal terms when consumers signed up for subscriptions. Although the company denied any wrongdoing, it agreed to the settlement to avoid the cost and risk of prolonged litigation.
