No Proof: Differin Acne Treatment $990K Benzene Settlement

Consumers who purchased certain Differin acne cleansers or spot treatments since 2020 may be eligible to receive up to $9 per product from a class action settlement.

Overview

Consumers who purchased Differin Daily Deep Cleanser (5% benzoyl peroxide), Differin Acne Spot Treatment (10% benzoyl peroxide), or Differin Maximum Strength Acne Foaming Cleanser (10% benzoyl peroxide) in the United States, the District of Columbia, or any U.S. territory between Jan. 1, 2020, and Feb. 19, 2026, may qualify for compensation.

Galderma Laboratories LP agreed to pay $990,000 to settle claims that it misled consumers about potential benzene contamination in certain Differin acne treatment products.

Who Is Eligible?
You may qualify if:

  • You are an individual (not a business or entity).
  • You purchased one or more eligible products for personal, family, or household use (not for resale).
  • You bought the product(s) between Jan. 1, 2020, and Feb. 19, 2026, in the United States, the District of Columbia, or any U.S. territory (including Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands).

Only one claim may be submitted per household. Multiple claims from the same household may be rejected.

  • Attorneys’ fees and costs: $330,000

When Will Payments Be Sent?
Payments are expected to be distributed approximately 45 days after final court approval and resolution of any appeals.
