OpenGov, Inc. has agreed to a $467,980 class action settlement involving job applicants in Washington State, following allegations that it failed to disclose wage ranges and benefit details in job listings, as required by law. Eligible applicants could receive an estimated $1,279.19 payout.
Although OpenGov denies any wrongdoing, it chose to settle the lawsuit to avoid the expense and uncertainty of litigation.
Who Can Receive a Payment?
You’re eligible if:
- You applied for a job at OpenGov, Inc. in Washington State between January 1, 2023, and February 25, 2025, and
- The job listing did not include:
- A salary range or wage scale, and/or
- A general description of benefits or other compensation

- Pro Rata Cash Payment: Approved claimants are expected to receive approximately $1,279.19, though the final amount depends on the total number of valid claims submitted.

Is Documentation Required?
No supporting documents are needed to submit your claim. Once your claim is approved, you’ll be asked to complete a W-9 form to receive your payment.
Payment Method
Eligible claimants will receive a paper check by mail to the address provided in the claim form.

- Settlement administration: Up to $20,000
- Attorney fees and legal costs: $202,960
- Service awards: $12,500 each to two lead plaintiffs (total of $25,000)
- Payments to class members: Remaining funds distributed among valid claimants

When Will Payments Be Issued?

Why Was There a Lawsuit?
The class action alleged that OpenGov violated Washington State law (RCW 49.58.110) by failing to provide required compensation and benefits information in job advertisements. The company chose to settle to resolve the matter efficiently, while continuing to deny the allegations.
