Planned Parenthood of Montana Data Breach Settlement

Individuals who were notified that an August 2024 data breach at Planned Parenthood of Montana may have exposed their personal information could qualify for reimbursement of up to $5,000, up to $80 for lost time, and two years of medical data monitoring.

Intermountain Planned Parenthood Inc., doing business as Planned Parenthood of Montana, agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging that a cybercriminal accessed its computer network in August 2024. The data breach potentially exposed patients’ sensitive personal and medical information.

Who Is Eligible?

Eligible class members include all U.S. residents who received notice— including notice of this settlement— that their personal or protected health information may have been compromised in the August 2024 Planned Parenthood of Montana data breach.

What Compensation Is Available?

Class members may submit a claim for one or more of the following:

Medical Data Monitoring
All class members may elect to receive two years of CyEx Medical Shield Pro monitoring services. This includes $1 million in medical identity theft insurance and monitoring for healthcare insurance ID exposure, medical record number exposure, and unauthorized health savings account spending.

Documented Out-of-Pocket Losses (up to $5,000)
Reimbursement is available for actual, documented losses linked to the breach and incurred between September 6, 2024, and January 12, 2026. Eligible expenses include identity theft losses, fees for credit reports or monitoring, costs to replace IDs, and postage for contacting financial institutions.

Lost Time (up to $80)
Class members may claim up to four hours at $20 per hour for time spent addressing issues caused by the breach.

Required Documentation

Online claims: Notice ID and PIN from the settlement notice are required.
Out-of-pocket loss claims: Supporting documents such as receipts, invoices, bank statements, credit card statements showing fees or fraudulent charges, or other proof of monetary loss caused by identity theft.

Settlement Fund Breakdown
