What’s the Skidmore College Data Breach Lawsuit About?
If you received a notification in September 2023 that your personal information may have been compromised in the Skidmore College data breach, you may be eligible for compensation of up to $3,500 or free credit monitoring.
The lawsuit alleges that a ransomware attack discovered in February 2023 exposed the private information of students, applicants, and former employees. Skidmore College denies wrongdoing but agreed to a class action settlement to resolve the claims and avoid further litigation.

- You received a written or substitute notice around September 15, 2023, stating your private information may have been affected

What Documentation Is Required?
- Claimants who received a mailed notice: Include the Unique ID from your postcard
- Claimants without a mailed notice: Submit documents (not self-prepared) showing you were a Skidmore College student, former employee, or applicant before Feb. 15, 2023 (e.g., transcripts, employment records)
- For Expense Claims: Include receipts, statements, or bills for out-of-pocket costs
- For Lost Time over 4 hours: Provide documentation supporting the time spent

Why Was the Lawsuit Filed?
