PFAS Water Settlement Reached for Summerville Residents
Defendants: Pulcra Chemicals LLC, Huntsman International LLC, Mount Vernon Mills Inc., Town of Trion, Ga.
Residents of Summerville, Georgia, who paid for city water service between January 2020 and March 5, 2025, may now qualify for free bottled water delivery or a permanent in-home filtration system as part of a $1 million class action settlement related to PFAS contamination.
The lawsuit accused the defendants of polluting the city’s drinking water supply with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as “forever chemicals.” While the parties deny any wrongdoing, they agreed to settle the case to avoid further litigation.
Who’s Eligible?
You may qualify if:
- You were a current account holder, ratepayer, or water/sewer service user from the City of Summerville, Ga.
- You resided at a property that received Summerville water service.
Eligibility by defendant:
- For Pulcra Chemicals LLC: You must have paid for Summerville water between Jan. 1, 2020, and Jan. 23, 2025.
- For Huntsman International LLC, Mount Vernon Mills Inc., and Town of Trion, Ga.: You must have paid for Summerville water between Jan. 1, 2020, and Mar. 5, 2025.
Note:
- Only one claim per property is allowed.
- Renters are eligible, but must obtain landlord approval for the filtration system option.
What Are the Benefits?
Eligible claimants may choose one of the following options:

- Installed by Fontis Water Inc.
- May require home modifications (e.g., drilling into countertops)
- Landlord consent required for renters
Bottled Water Delivery
- Regular delivery of 5-gallon jugs of PFAS-free spring water to homes or businesses
- Duration and quantity will depend on available funds and number of claimants
